KPTS Receives Grant from K.T. Wiedemann Foundation

Wichita, KS – June 23, 2009 – KPTS received a grant for $7,341 from the K.T. Wiedemann Foundation to purchase a high-definition camera. This generous contribution will provide the first of two field production units required for producing local documentaries in high definition.

KPTS Offers Special Rebroadcast to Prepare Kids for H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu)

Wichita, KS – May 1, 2009 – KPTS is offering a special rebroadcast of the Sid the Science Kid episode “The Big Sneeze” to help educate and inform children and parents of hand washing in combating the transmission of germs in a fun non-threatening way.

In this episode, Sid’s parents tell him to wash his hands to keep away germs. Sid can’t see any germs on his hands, so why should he wash them? Sid and his friends learn that germs are so small you can’t see them. They discover that a great way to stay healthy and keep germs away is by washing their hands with soap and water!

PBS #1 in Public Trust for Sixth Consecutive Year

Arlington, VA - February 13, 2009 - For the sixth consecutive year, a GfK Roper Public Affairs & Media poll shows Americans consider PBS the nation’s most trusted institution among nationally known organizations and the best choice in children’s programming for ages 2-8. The non-partisan, international research company released the comprehensive results from its national opinion survey, which was conducted to gauge the attitudes of Americans towards PBS and other major national institutions, including courts of law and commercial broadcast television networks.

KPTS to Shut off Analog Service Early

Wichita, KS – December 15, 2008 – KPTS is preparing to shut off analog service nearly six weeks before most Wichita stations. The federally mandated analog shut off date is February 18, 2009. However, KPTS will shut off analog service on January 5, 2009 at approximately 6:00 a.m.

KPTS Appoints New President and CEO

Wichita, KS – November 12, 2008 – The KPTS Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele Gors Paris as KPTS’ new President and Chief Executive Officer.

“I am pleased to announce the decision of the KPTS Board of Trustees to select Michele Gors Paris as the company’s next chief executive officer. Michele is an experienced, talented and visionary leader and the Board is confident in her abilities to move KPTS forward,” says Bill Bischoff, KPTS Board of Trustees Chairperson.
