KPTS Will Broadcast The 2008 State Of The State Address

WICHITA, KS – January 10, 2008 – KPTS will provide live coverage of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius’ 2008 State of the State Address on Monday, January 14 at 7:00 pm. The hour-long coverage will be hosted by Jennifer Schmidt, Senior Fellow with the Dole Institute of Politics at Kansas University and the host of Ask Your Legislator on KPTS.  In addition to the Governors’ address, our coverage will also include the Republican response from Melvin Neufeld, Speaker of the House, as well as analysis and reaction from a variety of guests. Antiques Roadshow Makes A Stop In Wichita This July

BOSTON, MA, January 7, 2008 - ANTIQUES ROADSHOW, PBS's most-watched primetime series has announced its summer 2008 Tour destinations: Palm Springs, California; Dallas, Texas; Wichita, Kansas; Chattanooga, Tennessee; Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Hartford, Connecticut.

Programs taped in those locations will make up ROADSHOW's thirteenth broadcast season on PBS, airing in 2009. More Information

KPTS Membership Drive Ends Near Goal

WICHITA, KS - December 21, 2007 - The KPTS Membership Drive ended on December 16 raising a total of $98,512, just short of the $100,000 goal.

Molly Fox, KPTS Director of Development said, “We like to meet and exceed our financial goals, but considering the loss of coverage due to the ice storm, we are pleased that we ended so close to our goal. The viewers really showed their support of the public television mission during this busy holiday season.” More Information

Local Non-Profits Partner to Create Living History

WICHITA, KS – December 21, 2007 – Public television station KPTS, serving south central Kansas, is partnering with the Museum of World Treasures, 835 East 1st Street, to bring history to life.

Beginning in January 2008, guests are invited to enjoy food and entertainment at its living history series.  The events are co-sponsored by the KPTS and Museum. All proceeds will directly benefit programming on KPTS. More Information

KPTS Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest 2008
WICHITA, KS – December 20, 2007 – It’s time for the Annual KPTS Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest. The competition is for grades K-3rd. Children are encouraged to write and illustrate their own story in their own words. Once the story is complete, send the story with an official entry form to KPTS Channel 8, 320 W. 21st Street North, Wichita, KS 67203-2499. KPTS gives new members incentive during the December Membership Drive

WICHITA, KS - November 27, 2007 – The December Membership Drive will begin Saturday, December 1 and run through Sunday, December 16. The goal of the drive is to raise $100,000 and 500 new friends. “We have a special offer during the December Membership Drive,” says Molly Fox, Director of Development, “current members are challenging viewers to make a pledge of support. When a new member is added, their contribution will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, by our current membership.” Members are important to the organization, as they provide more than 60 percent of the stations budget, allowing programming to remain uninterrupted. Named As Station's Interim General Manager

WICHITA, KS – November 15, 2007 – Lisa Dodson, Chair of the KPTS Board of Trustees announced recently “The Board of Trustees has named Dave McClintock, KPTS’s Director of Broadcast Operations, as the Interim General Manager for the station.”  McClintock took over as Interim General Manager for the local PBS station on November 12th, following the resignation of Don Checots. 2007 Mister Rogers' Sweater Drive Begins

WICHITA, KS – November 2, 2007 – It’s time for the annual KPTS Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive.  KPTS has collected over 18,000 sweaters since beginning the annual collection event in 2000.  This year KPTS will continue the tradition.

The eighth annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive will run from November 3 – 17.  More Information
