Music Theatre Wichita’s 2018 season continues with two unique Broadway-scale productions and one special event as part of the summer festival of musical theatre. The summer resident company members, Broadway-bound young singer-actor-dancers, take the spotlight at 8pm on July 7 for StarNight in Century II’s Mary Jane Teall Theatre. The title of this year’s revue is “Defying Gravity: the Songs of Stephen Schwartz.” Then July 11-15, the fun and funny Freaky Fridaytakes the stage, taking us on a journey through one eventful day when mother and daughter swap bodies. July 25-29 the mainstage production will bePippin, dazzling audiences with the production and the acrobatic skills of the company. Choreographer Al Blackstone (So You Think You Can Dance; Music Theatre Wichita’s 2016 production of Oklahoma! and 2017 production of Hairspray), returns to Wichita, uniting a cirque sensibility with the sensual Fosse style of the original. Audiences will be dazzled by this production, and the acrobatic skills of the company! July 25-29. Wichita Independent Business Association is proud to welcome Disney’s Approach to Employee Engagement professional development course to Wichita, KS on Wednesday, Sept. 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at WSU Tech.

The one-day event will allow area professionals to explore ways in which they can shape their organization's culture based on desired employee behaviors, and select people who are a right-fit for the organization’s culture. This day of Disney Institute training uses business insights and time-tested examples from Disney parks and resorts worldwide to inspire individuals and organizations to enhance their own customer experience using Disney principles as their guide. The course is beneficial to professionals, and specifically those with direct reports, looking to improve how they select, train, and engage employees. Individuals interested in shaping a confident, highly productive, and dedicated workforce will find this course valuable.
